YMCA Cardiff works across South East Wales. The YMCA Cardiff works in two distinct areas, youth and community and housing and homelessness.
Youth and Community
YMCA Cardiff support more than 250 young carers (aged 7-16) and their families in South East Wales and provide sexual health outreach programmes to young people throughout the city as well as delivering youth clubs and other opportunities across the city. They also run YMCA Plas (formerly Plasnewydd Community Centre where they provide childcare, youth clubs, community rooms and health and wellbeing opportunities 7 days a week.
Housing and Homelessness
Cardiff YMCA Housing Association is a charitable Housing Association and a Registered Social Landlord. They are registered with the Welsh Government and directly manage board and lodge hostels in the Roath area of Cardiff. They provide accommodation for nearly 120 homeless people in Cardiff with the belief that everyone should have a safe place to stay. Their residents receive the support they need in order to achieve and sustain the transition into independent living. They also provide opportunities through their retail shops and recycling unit for their residents and volunteers alike.
